# Billing & Plans

> Understand Cartally's subscription plans, usage limits, and billing model.

Cartally uses a subscription-based billing model with usage-based overage. All billing is handled securely through **Stripe**.

## Subscription plans

Each plan includes:

* A **base monthly or annual fee**.
* A defined number of **search requests** (standard keyword + semantic search).
* A defined number of **AI chat requests** (conversational AI assistant).
* **Overage billing** — if you exceed your included limits, additional requests are billed in batches.

  Choosing an annual plan saves approximately 12% compared to monthly payments.

## Usage limits

Your plan includes separate limits for:

| Metric               | Description                                                |
| -------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Search requests**  | Every search query made through the widget (standard mode) |
| **AI chat requests** | Every AI Mode conversation message                         |

You can monitor current usage in the **Dashboard** page of the Cartally panel.

### Limit notifications

Cartally sends automatic email notifications when your usage approaches the limit:

* **90% reached** — a warning to consider upgrading or enabling overage.
* **100% reached** — the limit has been hit. If overage is not enabled, further requests of that type may be restricted.

## Overage billing

If your plan supports overage, additional requests beyond the included limit are billed automatically in batches:

* **Search overage** — billed per batch of additional search requests.
* **AI chat overage** — billed per batch of additional AI requests.

Overage charges are added to your next invoice.

## Trial period

New subscriptions include a free trial period. During the trial:

* All plan features are fully available.
* No payment is charged until the trial ends.
* You can cancel at any time during the trial without being charged.

## Managing your subscription

In the **Billing** page of the Cartally panel you can:

* **View current plan** — see your active plan, limits, and usage.
* **Change plan** — upgrade or downgrade. Changes take effect at the next billing cycle.
* **Cancel subscription** — cancel your plan. Access continues until the end of the current billing period.
* **Manage payment method** — opens the Stripe customer portal where you can update your card, view invoices, and manage billing details.

## Shopify billing

For stores using the Shopify app, billing is handled through Shopify's built-in billing system instead of Stripe. The plan is managed directly within the Shopify admin.
